The Maresme maintains itself above the Catalan average for selective waste collection during 2016
With 43.21%, it is the ninth best region in terms of the amount of selectively collected waste per inhabitant

The Maresme again maintained itself, with a significant 43.21%, above the Catalan average for selective waste collection in 2016. The average has been established at 38,53%, according to the data on selective collection facilitated this August by the Catalan Waste Agency, and the Consortium’s own data of the residual waste which enters the plant. THE MARESME CONSORTIUM REGISTERS A 22% INCREASE IN PACKAGING MATERIAL RECOVERY DURING THE THREE MONTHS SINCE IMPROVEMENTS WERE MADE
The improvements in the pre-treatment of residual waste, part of the continual regeneration of the Maresme Integral Centre for Waste Recovery, have been key to achieving such a significant improvement in such a short time.

In 2017 The Maresme Integral Centre for Waste Recovery is carrying out work focused on the improvement in the recovery of recyclable materials, mainly packaging. The Maresme Consortium for Municipal Solid Waste Treatment breaks its record for school visits during the first half of 2017
By the end of June 2017, almost 4,500 children of various ages have visited the centre or participated in related workshops at school, with the experience valued as excellent in terms of human resources and programme material.

In the first half of 2017, the Maresme Consortium has exceeded all expectationsand has practically equalled the figures for the whole of 2016 with respect to thenumber of guided visits for schools to the Centre and participation in workshops atthe schools themselves, with 4,471 visitors compared to 4,826 in the whole of 2016.
